NYC FC vs Seattle Sounders FC @ Yankee Stadium

Join Members of The Australian Community at Yankee Stadium to watch NYC Football Club take on the Seattle Sounders.

Whether you are a super fan of Soccer, or just looking to check off Yankee Stadium on your NYC bucket list, this promises to be a great evening of sports and making new Australian connections.

The Seattle Sounders have an Aussie Socceroo on the roster, Brad Smith, so there is an additional reason to attend.

Our friends at NYCFC have put together a special package with reserved Bleacher seating in Section 204 for our members, on Wednesday July 3rd - so you do not have to worry about work the next day as it is a public holiday!

Tickets are just $30 and include a $10 gift card for purchasing food and drinks at the concessions!

The game starts at 7:00PM so the plan is to meet at the clock in Grand Central Station at 5:30PM and take the 4 Train to 161st Street - Yankee Stadium.  This way if you have never taken the Subway to (and from) the Bronx, or you prefer to travel as a group, no Aussie will be left behind!

This event will be an excellent evening of sports and making new friends.

An aerial view of the seating at Yankee Stadium, and the layout of the pitch.  The seats are in Section 204.

SunSafe Lawn Bowls @ Bowling Green NYC

Join us for our Historic #SlipSlopSlap Lawn Bowls Competition at Bowling Green in Downtown NYC.

This summer The Australian Community is raising awareness of Melanoma, and a Sun Safe game of Lawn Bowls at the most historic public park in the U.S. is the perfect location to demonstrate Sun Safe outdoor activities.

For the past five years, The Australian Community has been raising awareness of Melanoma amongst New Yorkers through its #SlipSlopSlap campaign.

Although Bowling Green was the center of Lawn Bowls in NYC under the British, ever since George Washington marched down Broadway in 1783 and lowered the Union Jack, its been challenging to get teams together for a few friendly Ends!

The good news is that we have assembled a group of Sun Safe Australians to compete in the Inaugural #SlipSlopSlap Lawn Bowls competition to be held on June 8, 2019 at Bowling Green!

Hydration is important so Bundaberg has donated a few cases of their famous Ginger Beer for players and spectators to enjoy!

If you are free on the afternoon of Saturday June 8 and would like to be part of history, the first End is at Noon.

#SlipSlopSlap #KoalaGiving

More than 1,000 New Yorkers in NYC and Long Island die of Melanoma each year.

According to the CDC, there were a total of 8,882 annual new cases of Melanoma diagnosed in NYC and Long Island, of whom, 1,015 died.

To read how The Australian Community is raising money to raise awareness of Melanoma and the need to #SlipSlopSlap, you can click here to read the article.

#ANZACDayNYC “Bonds of Mateship” Drinks

"It is a legend of free and independent spirits whose discipline derived less from military formalities and customs than from the Bonds of Mateship and the demands of necessity."  Hon. P.J. Keating.

As Australian citizens living in the U.S., we are yet compelled by the same "Bonds of Mateship" to honor the ANZAC legend by remember fallen Australians in a tradition that has continued for more than a century.

For those who may have missed it, below is a video of the 2018 Dawn Service in NYC.
