2020 #OzDayNYC Black Tie Gala

On Saturday, January 25th, 2020, The Australian Community will again be hosting its annual #OzDayNYC Black Tie Awards to recognize Australians who have donated their time and talent to assisting our nonprofit organization in its charitable mission.

Guests will be entertained with live performances by award winning Australian talent.  The "Joeys" awards presentation and performances will be livestreamed to a Global audience via our Facebook page @aucommunity.

 

 

It will also be raising money for our Disaster Relief Fund.  100% of the money raised from the charity auction will go to aid for the Australian Bush Fires.

 

 

#OzDayNYC is a re-envisioning of an Australian Black Tie Gala.  It is a modern celebration of Australian philanthropy and performing arts. 

It is an opportunity for our professional community to come together and show Australia that we are sending more than "thoughts and prayers" for Bushfire relief.

Whether you are purchasing a corporate sponsorship or a single ticket, everyone will feel welcome.  The relaxed format of the meal, and a premium open bar, ensures everyone will have every opportunity to socialize and network throughout the evening.

Holding the After Party in the Long Hall Bar on the ground floor means that there is no need to leave the building for those who wish to continue the festivities into the early hours.

CHARITY AUCTION TO SUPPORT THE AUSTRALIAN BUSH FIRES

Our Board of Directors have agreed that 100% of the money raised from our #OzDayNYC 2020 Charity Auction will be earmarked to fund relief for the Australian Bushfires.

The Australian Community is taking a leadership role in raising awareness, and providing aid for victims, firefighters and wildlife organizations.

HONOREE

Jeremy K. Balkin is a best selling author, and is the Head of Innovation for HSBC Bank USA based in New York.  Jeremy serves on the retail bank management committee and is responsible for the fintech innovation and exponential growth strategy for North America.

Balkin also serves on the board of the Council for Emerging Technology and he is the multi-award winning author of two books, Investing with Impact: Why Finance is a Force for Good, and Millennialization of Everything: How to Win When Millennials Rule the World.

Jeremy previously served as an adviser to The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull, Australia’s 29th Prime Minister and as an executive at Macquarie Bank.

In 2017, Jeremy K. Balkin was named among the Top 35 Millennial Influencers in USA by the NBT Movement in Washington DC, and received the Advance Global Australian Award from the Prime Minister of Australia.

He has run six marathons and also received the UNSW Alumni Award for Achievement and been designated a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum

Jeremy is being honored not only for his achievements in Business, but also for his advocacy for our non-profit organization, and his support of our expat initiatives.

MENU

The evening will commence with a Cocktail Hour with a selection of meat and vegetarian Cold Canapés and Passed Hors d'oeuvres.

The Buffet Dinner will include vegetarian Salad and Pasta Stations, along with a Beef Carving Station featuring New York Strip.  Beef, Shrimp and Chickpea Sliders will also be served.

The Desert Table will include Freshly Baked Cookies, Brownies and Chef's Selection of Miniature Desserts, Freshly Sliced Fruit and Berries, along with Fresh Brewed Coffee and assorted Teas.

The ticket price includes a Premium Open Bar.

AFL Grand Final in New York 2019

This event has reached capacity!

The 2019 AFL Grand Final is just around the corner, and The Australian Community is hosting its AFL Grand Final party in New York at Beckett's Bar and Grill.

The AFL Grand Final has the Richmond Tigers lining up against the Greater Western Sydney Giants, so it will be Melbourne vs Sydney in New York!

Many of our members who live Downtown NYC, or those members who are looking for a more relaxed way to watch the AFL Grand Final will be pleased to learn that Beckett's will again be hosting our AFL Grand Final Gathering on Friday, September 27th from 11:00 PM.

Beckett’s is one of the best sports bars in NYC with two giant projection screens and wall to wall big screen TVs making it an ideal venue to watch the footy in comfort.

We will be raffling our world famous $100 meat tray coupon and other giveaways at half time to keep the evening humming along, and add to the excitement.

If you would like to support our raffle, tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.

Proceeds of raffle go to support our #KoalaGiving charitable initiative.

#ANZACDayNYC “Bonds of Mateship” Drinks

"It is a legend of free and independent spirits whose discipline derived less from military formalities and customs than from the Bonds of Mateship and the demands of necessity."  Hon. P.J. Keating.

As Australian citizens living in the U.S., we are yet compelled by the same "Bonds of Mateship" to honor the ANZAC legend by remember fallen Australians in a tradition that has continued for more than a century.

On Thursday April 25th from 6:30PM The Australian Community is inviting its members and their guests to attend informal drinks at Beckett's Bar & Grill located in the Historic Stone Street District of NYC to continue this tradition.

For those who may have missed it, below is a video of the 2018 Dawn Service in NYC.

There will be a cash bar and food will be available for order for those who also wish to eat.

Spring Gathering

Members and guests are invited to attend this special evening co-hosted by New York Life on the 29th Floor of the Equitable Building located at 120 Broadway, NYC. 

It's time to start enjoying the warmer weather and this event will be a great opportunity to mix and network with other professional Australians.

 

Beer, wine and soda will be served on the evening.  You must be 21 or older to attend.

A buffet of cheese, fruit and vegetarian snacks with also be provided.

The Australian Community recognized Amelia Cormack, Nick Atkinson, Lynda Kinkade, Rupert Boyd, Georgia Kate Haege and Kurt Sneddon for their charitable contributions to our organization.

Zjantelle Cammisa Markel is a top-rated Immigration attorney who practices law in New York City.  Zjantelle not only assists her clients on Business and Immigration issues, but has been an avid supporter of The Australian Community from our inception in 2011.

November Anniversary Mixer

November 2018 marks the seventh anniversary of the founding of The Australian Community, and all of our members are invited to the celebration!

Members and guests are invited to attend this special evening at One Art Space located at 23 Warren Street, where they will also have the opportunity to mix and network with other professional Australians.

Watch the AFL Grand Final in New York

If you are wondering where to watch the AFL Grand Final in New York, The Australian Community will be hosting its AFL Grand Final Gathering at Beckett's NYC.

After both teams had impressive wins in their semis, we are all set for a Collingwood vs West Coast Grand Final in New York at Beckett's in the Historic Stone Street District on New York.

Many of our members who live Downtown, or those who are looking for a more relaxed way to watch the Footy will be pleased to learn that Beckett's will again be hosting our AFL Grand Final Gathering on Friday, September 28th from 11:00 PM.

Beckett’s is one of the best sports bars in NYC with two giant projection screens and wall to wall big screen TVs making it an ideal venue to watch the footy in comfort.

 

We will be preparing for the 12:30 AM kickoff with an all Australian playlist commencing at 11:00 PM.

We will be raffling our world famous $100 meat tray coupon and other prizes at half time to keep the evening humming along, and add to the excitement.

Due to the ground floor capacity of Beckett's, there is a limit of 100 members and guests for this event.  

Admission is support our raffle.  Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.
