Over the 2019-2020 Australian Bushfire season, some 34 people lost their lives including three American volunteers, more than 46 million acres of bushland was destroyed, and close to one billion animals perished. The Australian Bushfires may be out, but in many ways the work is just beginning.

The work includes reconstruction, reforestation, and the reintroduction of Koalas and other Australian fauna to areas devastated by bushfires.

People want to send more than just “Thoughts and Prayers”.

Many Americans are horrified by the past images of devastation, caused by the Australian Bushfires. Therefore they want to donate to send aid to organizations who are either still providing aid, or increasing capacity to mitigate the impact of future bushfires.

The Australian Community Disaster Relief Fund

The Australian Community achieved status as a 501(c)(3) U.S. Public Charity in 2014. As a result, and in anticipation of natural disasters that are aligned with our Mission, a Disaster Relief Fund was integrated into our charitable activities. The fund distributes grants to charitable organizations who provide disaster relief.

The Australian Community is taking a leadership role in raising money for the Australian Bushfires in the U.S. through its Disaster Relief Fund. Many Americans want to send U.S. tax-deductible donations for aid, but are unsure how, and where the need is greatest.

Therefore, through the Australian Community’s Disaster Relief Fund, you do not need to be an Aussie to make tax-deductible donations with the confidence that aid will reach those in most need.
